PIFK has recently supported the following deserving organizations & programs:

RON BURTON TRAINING VILLAGE

The mission of Ron Burton Training Village (RBTV) is to enrich the lives of challenged youth in the areas of dynamic character and leadership development, physical fitness, social and educational advancement, and spiritual growth.

Over the past twenty-nine years Ron Burton Training Village has served more than 3,000 young men and women in their spiritual, physical and educational growth. Twelve months a year, over a six-year period, campers are guided, supported and mentored in some of life’s most essential areas including: education, social skills, morals, values, leadership and fitness. The most intense part of this mentorship occurs during the summer when the campers attend our five-week training camp in Hubbardston, Massachusetts.

Pitching in for Kids has been supporting RBTV for several years by donating grants, academic scholarships, speaking events, and more.  PIFK values our relationship with the Burton family and all of the campers that have made a difference in our lives.  Please take a look at this amazing organization that continues to make an impact on our youth.

RED SOX FOUNDATION SCHOLARS

The Red Sox Scholars is an award-winning program run by the Red Sox Foundation, the official team charity of the Boston Red Sox. The program was launched in 2003 and with the selection of the new class of Boston Public School students in 2012, the Red Sox Scholars Program now provides mentoring, enrichment activities and college scholarships to 220 Boston Public School students. Funded by the Red Sox Foundation, the Scholars’ college scholarships of up to $10,000 per student are redeemable upon enrollment in an accredited college and on the condition on continued good citizenship. The Red Sox Scholars come from diverse backgrounds and have demonstrated perseverance in the face of many challenges.

Now selected in the spring of their 7th grade year, the programming for their newest class of Scholars focuses on supporting strong academic habits and navigating the high school application process.  In addition to school-based and district resources, the Red Sox Scholars receive critical mentoring and guidance from Red Sox Foundation staff members, cultivating positive relationships and developing the requisite skill set necessary for success.  As the Scholars advance through high school, the focus of the program shifts to job readiness and professionalism in the 9th and 10th grade, and the college application/financial aid processes during the 11th and 12th grade.  They currently have three classes of Scholars in college and are honored to help support Boston’s talented youth achieve their goals.
